Cecil Cove Loop – Thunder Falls
Cecil Cove Loop – Thunder Falls
Description
This trail winds through forested areas, features steep climbs, steep descent that can be slick, many creek crossings and a beautiful Thunder Canyon Falls. It’s a bit overgrown at times and is muddy through much of the year and parts impassable during rainy season. Can be challenging, if looking for an easy hike do not do this one.
To get to the Falls only (easier hike), follow the main trail until you come to an obvious fork. Take the left trail opposite where the main trail continues right.
This area has been said to have been a hideout for 36 fugitives in the early 1900s to include Jesse James and Cole Younger. The Erbie area is thought to be one of the more beautiful areas around and features a historic church you can check out while there. Trailhead is located on old road next to Erbie Church. Dogs are not allowed on trail.
