Hanging Tree

Title

Hanging Tree

Description

Legend has it in 1863 Union soldiers were taken prisoner and/or hung by confederate soldiers. Many with names locals would recognize to this day such as Vanderpool and Gilmore.

This tree is still alive today. If you walk around to the back side and look out, you will notice the branches formed a heart in the tree. This trail is near Car Wash Falls and south of Parker Ridge trails. Has some of the best mudding areas near Big Piney. The temp in limestone always seems to be 10 degrees cooler in the summer which makes it a great place to get out and explore.
